A new camera company named
Lytro released a statement recently about their product. It is a different way to capture images, which provides some ability to change the focus and view point of the image after taking it. Check out their website, and see what you think.
Pretty interesting stuff. If you look at some of the images, it seems the extremes still stay slightly out of focus though. Like you can't really get the trees or car in the background fully sharp. If you look at the below image though, the results are pretty astounding.
I love photography how it is, and don't think I would want to move away from some of the basic photography principles. That being said, I am sure people felt the same way about the digital revolution. It will be interesting to see if this takes off, and if so, how it might effect future digital cameras and their capabilities. In some ways, the DSLR market is tapering off after periods of exponential growth. It is hard to really add much more to the current cameras and each new model seems now only be baby steps better than the one before it. Could this be the technology to change all that?
On other fronts, I bought a house. I have been busy as a bee working on finding a home, pushing this through, inspections, and now packing. I haven't had much time on the computer and am way behind on photo editing, uploading to the internet and blogging. I have a lot of time off in July, and will try to blog a bit, but plan to be traveling. Lots. Hope to have some exciting stuff soon.
